2023 Schedule


Oak Hill, Greene County, Lecture and Walking Tour

Thursday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at the William K. Sanford Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Road, Colonie, NY.

Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m., meeting at the Tripp House, 7890 Route 81, Oak Hill.

Oak Hill, a hamlet in Greene County, counts several sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Come join us for a two-part program that includes a PowerPoint presentation of Oak Hill given by Mary Lou Nahas, town historian, on Thursday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at the William K. Sanford Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Road, Colonie, NY. Maps with directions for the second part of the program will be handed out at the presentation. The program, free to the public, is sponsored by the Society of Architectural Historians, Albany Chapter. To register for the lecture, click here, or call the information desk at 518-810-0314.

Part two is a walking tour of the hamlet itself on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. If you aren't attending the presentation at the library, the tour will start at the Tripp House, 7890 Route 81, Oak Hill. Parking at the church or on the street. Information about local lunch sites will be available.

Directions to the Tripp House:

From the north: access Route 9W at Exit 23 of the NYS Thruway. Travel south a short distance and turn right to Route 32. At the end of the Delmar Bypass, continue on Route 32 to Route 143, continue to Oak Hill. Turn left at Route 81. The Tripp House (7890 Route 81) is a short distance from this intersection. Oak Hill is about 48 minutes from Albany.

From the south: at the Kingston-Rhinecliff bridge (west side of the Hudson River) travel 199 W, merge, US-9W N to 212W/NY32N, to 23W, to 145N, turn right to NY-81E to 7890 Route 81. Travel time approximately an hour.
